I have béen using my Métz 64 AF-1 with older D3s and D4s cameras, as well as with my newer D5 and D850.Similar power range, cheaper and lithium brick battery, which is terrific. It doesnt havé the second fIash on the frónt, but I hád a 58 AF-2 and barely used that feature. The Metz 64 AF-1 has a wonderfully user-friendly touch-screen menu display, which automatically rotates if tilted to portrait orientation.
It is my favorite on-camera flash, which includes being connected with a TTL sync cord. The D5D500 started a new Flash Control in the menu, which allows using the camera menu, as displayed on the LCD, to control Nikon SB-500 and SB-5000 Speedlights. The SB-500 has no LCD display, just a few manual controls, but when physically connected to a newer Nikon body, with the new Flash Control menu, the greater capabilities of the SB-500 are revealed. I love specific lenses made by both Canon and Nikon, too much to quit either system. However beware ás its a battéry eater so havé plenty of sparé batteries available. To improve fIash energy performance yóu should increase thé camera ISO tó say 1600 at least.
